The Best of The Doors è una raccolta dei Doors pubblicata nel 1985 ed è composta da 19 tracce divise in due cd e raccoglie il meglio della band californiana e rappresenta l'album con le maggiori vendite del gruppo.
Quarant'anni fa veniva pubblicato il primo disco omonimo dei Doors, vera pietra miliare dell'era psichedelica e netta opposizione della "Summer of love", soprattutto per quanto concerne i temi trattati (sesso e morte in particolare). Jim Morrison era e rimane una delle più grandi icone del rock, forse la più mitizzata, certamente una delle più amate. La musica dei Doors è incredibilmente attuale anche a distanza di così lungo tempo, le URLa lancinanti del Re Lucertola fYears ancora impallidire ed elettrizzare, l'organo di Manzarek è un propulsore armonico, la chitarra di Krieger è melodica e allo stesso tempo acida, il drumming di Densmore è riempitivo e jazzato. Commentare questo "Best of" è abbastanza facile, visto che è dal 1985 che continuano a proporcelo in tutte le salse e in continui cambi di scaletta. L'utilità di questo disco attuale è quella di far scoprire ai ragazzi di età compresa tra i 14 e i 20 anni questo fantastico e indispensabile gruppo, visto che quelli di età maggiore avrYears già in casa qualche edizione anteriore di codesta raccolta.
